Study coach as part of the school counseling office

The thesis deals with the use of coaching methods in education, specifically the position of the student coach and the possibilities of his/her work within the school counselling office. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part defines the activities of the individual members of the school counselling office and the anchoring of these positions in the legislation along with the required qualifications and education. It also mentions coaching, its possible definitions and related concepts, and outlines the position of coaching in education in the Czech Republic and abroad. The practical part focuses on the actual research, which took place at a private language highschool in Prague for one school year. It first presents the characteristics of the school, which is complemented by a quantitative analysis and provides an overview of the composition of the school counselling department at this particular school, the representation of pupils in each year group and other features. Next, the paper outlines the activities of the student coach, in particular the course of consultations, methods and tools used.
